I see my work at the institute first of all as a service. The mission of NASK as the national research institute is to carry out strategically important project for the Polish state. It is a task for all of us. I will put all my efforts to ensure that NASK group fulfills its mission well - says Prof. Jacek Leśkow, the director of NASK. We are going to develop and integrate our competences within the entire NASK group which operates in several locations and carries out many substantive tasks. A particularly important direction of development will also be our cooperation with foreign partners at various levels in the area of digital services, cyber security and in research and development sector, especially those related to artificial intelligence - stresses the Director of NASK.
Jacek Leśkow, Ph.D. Eng., Prof. at the Cracow University of Technology, works also at the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Cracow University of Technology. In 1997 he received his doctorate at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and his habilitation in 1999 at the Wrocław University of Science and technology during several years he worked at the University of California (Santa Barbara, USA) as Director of the Consulting Laboratory in the Department of Statistics, he was also Vice Rector for Scientific Research at the Higher School of Business - National Louis University in Nowy Sącz. He specializes in artificial intelligence and statistical signal processing and has 55 scientific publications and 5 books. In addition, Prof. Jacek Leśkow was a member of the Steering Committee of the Małopolska Regional Operational Programme for 7 years, and a member of the Committee of Advisers to the U.S. Ambassador in Warsaw for 2 years.
At the same time, Marek Zagórski announced the appointment of Bartłomiej Klinger as the Deputy Director for Administration and Education projects at NASK. Bartłomiej Klinger will supervise, among others, the OSE Department and NASK Branch in Białystok.
Bartłomiej Klinger is an experienced IT manager and an expert in software engineering and information systems. He graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at the Warsaw University of Technology. For over 15 years he has been co-creating IT solutions for the governmental sector and business where he has carried out many nationwide and European IT projects. He managed teams and departments engaged in software development and implementation, including the regional implementation center of a global corporation. As a director and later a member of the Management Board of the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW S.A.), he was responsible for the area of digital solutions and IT projects conducted by PWPW S.A. From November 2018, he has been engaged with the Ministry of Digital Affairs, where as an expert and as the deputy director in the Department for Data Management he coordinated projects carried out in the MC group in the field of new technologies: artificial intelligence, Internet of things and blockchain technology.
Krzysztof Silicki, the hitherto acting director of NASK, was nominated by Minister Zagórski as Deputy Director for Cyber Security and Innovation at NASK. Since 1992 he has been working at NASK. Krzysztof Silicki graduated from Warsaw University of Technology. In 2017-2018, he was holding a position of Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Digital Affairs responsible for the cybersecurity. He is also involved in the work of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA). He is a member of ENISA Management Board (since 2004) and Executive Board (since 2013). In 2016 he became a Vice-Chair of the ENISA Management Board. Krzysztof Silicki is a founder of CERT Polska, first incident response team in Poland. He was representative in FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) (1997-1999). Krzysztof Silicki has been also the originator and Program Chair of SECURE annual conference – first IT security conference in Poland. He was involved in the creation of the strategy and work programme of ENISA for more than 10 years and has been participating in many European and Polish projects as an expert in NIS (network and information security). During his mission in ministry, Krzysztof Silicki was leading the process of preparing a draft of national cybersecurity act implementing NIS directive.
