The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) is a centre of expertise for cyber security in Europe. ENISA is contributing to a high level of network and information security (NIS) within the European Union, by developing and promoting a culture of NIS in society to assist in the proper functioning of the internal market.
Krzysztof Silicki has been engaged in the ENISA's issues since its beginning in 2004. As the represenative of NASK he has been participating in its works as the Polish representative in the Management Board (since 2004) and in the Executive Board (since 2013). Krzysztof Silicki has long experience in the cybersecurity, among other things as the co-founder of the first response team - CERT Polska, operating within the structure of NASK, whose core aim is to active respond against threats to network security.
In the joint statement, Jean-Baptiste Demaison, a newly elected Chairman of the ENISA's Management Board, and Krzysztof Silicki announced that "key role of ENISA in supporting and strengthening cybersecurity and cooperation in Europe is well known. Our effectiveness in the fight against threats will be based on the cooperation among all member states, the European Commission and ENISA.
Immediately after the election, Krzysztof Silicki said that current term of the Board presidium coincides with new challenges facing the ENISA that concern the support for implementation of the NIS directive in the EU countries that will be soon approved by the European Parliament and can positively change the picture of cybersecurity in Europe.
New presidium of the Management Board was elected on the 18th October, 2016 for 3 years.
